My reasons for running Debian are pretty much the same
as the other people that posted.  I also like that
most of the system is controlled through scripts that
can easily be changed and take affect system-wide. 
Their package managament system is, in my opinion,
much better than RedHat's.

That said, I also agree that "If it isn't broke, don't
fix it".  I don't know if it was one of the newer
programs that we installed on the box that fixed it,
or one of the many changes that we made in the
configuration.  We did switch from using ws_ftpd to
ProFTPD, so you might want to try that.
