Okay, after lurking and sporadically posting to this list for almost 3
years now, I've finally taken the plunge.

I have successfully installed RH 7.1 on one of my machines at home. I'm
planning on eventually doing some ipfw with a little natd for an internal
network.

Here are the two things I would like to accomplish first (please keep in
mind that although I have been trying to keep up with the group, I really
haven't had ANY hands on experience with Linux...so be gentle :)):

1. Install BSD-Tetris. I was the SouthWind Champeen on ONYX and had fun,
fun, fun until OneMain/EarthSTINK took my shell away. So, I'd like to
install it on my RH box to keep those block-droppin' skillz sharp.

Here's what I've done to try and accomplish this (obviously without
success, or I wouldn't be posting). I've grabbed: bsd-games-2.9-2.src.rpm
from the RH ftp site. I'm using KDE for my desktop so I open up kpackage
since it looks like the right tool to install an RPM. I open up the
afore-mentioned RPM, click install and get "Error looking for package
bsd-games". My gut reaction is that what I've downloaded needs to be
compiled first, but I'm not sure and I wouldn't have clue 1 on how to
compile it in the first place. So, <raising NEWBIE hand...>, HELP.

2. I'd like to run SETIATHOME on this box also. I've downloaded the
i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1-static client
(setiathome-3.03.i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1-static.tar.

I've then unzipped (from my W2K box and FTP'd it over since <ashamedly> I
haven't taken the time to figure how to un-tar something. Anyway, I can't
get it to start. So, <raising NEWBIE hand...>, HELP (part deux).

Anyway, it's late. So, I'm sending this in, hitting the sack and I'll
eagerly await some suggestions in my mailbox tomorrow. TIA (of
course).

</newbiequestionverbose>
