Yes, Ethereal is gui-based.  (It's available for Windows as well.)  The
packet sniffer itself is just tcpdump, but Ethereal is a protocol analyzer
wrapped around tcpdump that breaks the packet headers apart and labels the
pieces for you.  Not nearly as powerful as SnifferPro, but none of us have
the four-digit price tag to spare for individual licenses for elite stuff.

Ethereal is still a pretty spiffy tool... if you need help with it, let me
know.
