Not entirely; you still get a defense multiplier for being inside a
fortress.

Also, in Alpha Centauri, there's a variant rule.  When you attack a
tile with multiple units and kill the defender, the other units in the
stack take "collateral damage" (something like 1-4 hit points randomly;
possibly less if the unit is armored, possibly more for units with more
than 10 hit points).

There are other rules, too, and I don't have a complete grasp of them
all -- but one case I do know is this: when you have a tile with a single
military unit and one or more non-military units, if the military unit
is killed, all the non-military units are killed too.

So, if we're going to support all of Civ2/Colonization/SMAC then we'll
need at least three different settings for this.
