Your objection just points out the need for an envy/greed/unhappy
citizen that sees the denial of (personal) reward (whether monetary
or in power/status in the new regime) by the rest of the celebrants
as a major need to trash the system :-).
Alternatively, "everyone has their price" ...
I don't think it really holds up.
