1. It makes the memory allocation routines symmetric (fc_*)
2. It could catch potential problems in the development stage
3. It happens infrequently enough that it's not a performance hit, and
   would only cause coredumps with debugging enabled.

   It would allow flexibility in keeping statistics, and I will write (I
promise) a patch to write out a scorelog given a command on the server
(could potentially lower file I/O during the game).  Plus the potential
for power graphs shown at the end of the game.
