No, I used S-Lang instead. There was no need to use Python.

After then I decided that maintaining a whole stable distribution was
overkill, and simply released patches against Freeciv instead, as Raimar
has already pointed out.

I have no intention of contributing further to this discussion, which
has only served so far to convince me that freeciv-dev needs to be
moderated.
