Of course, the city report shows you only information about your own
cities. IMHO, it would be no problem to represent the different islands/
continents in the display as different numbers. I would need this
information
only for a single purpose: to be capable of grouping all of my cities
that are on the same continent/island. This is useful when you have
built a wonder that affects all cities on a continent. Furthermore,
it facilitates gathering information about available units for
attack/defense,
if you have a complete railroad net on your island/continent.

Nice idea of naming the islands and continents. (Reminds me of AC where
you can name landmarks on the map.)
a) Well, I think if this kind of information
would be available in the city overview, then all people that use
this
information at least would find it nice to be able to name islands
and
continents. It's not necessary, of course.
b) One has to work out a concept for this first, I think. Should these
names
also be shown on the client map? Can you learn about the names other
players have for the same islands? etc.
