        There really is no standard location, as far as I know.  Most
distributions I have used put this stuff under /var somewhere.  You might
try /var/log or /var/adm  .  I would cd into /var and run a du to 
summarize directory by directory where the space is being used and also as
a bonus du gives a subdirectory name summary.
