disorder in democracy is no random event and is caused by continuing
disorder in one city.
global warming isnt a random event but is caused by too much pollution and
hits all.

most random events(except earthquake) can be defended against with
appropriate buildings, if u wish.
A city switching sides("citizens of A admire the prosperity of B and have
revolted.") is usally caused by corruption/few trade in that city and a
booming enemy city.random events hit the biggest player more often, so they
might be good.
and you can turn them off in options ... .
