When you can't lose it or get a second warning you don't learn. Selling it
and seeing that you don't have a chance is learning it the hard way.

There is a help which shows what you need to build a palace, so read it,
before selling your building.
You read it during playing the game.

It is possible to get masonry without a palace under despotism.

That happens when your enemy has killed all your defending units in your
capital. And it's not my fault when my enemy is attacking me.
