OK, I'm just playing a game (single-player, latest CVS) so maybe there

Yes, but it could be useful. It is important to know if backups could be
in battle in 3 turns if everything goes well. And there is no randomness
on ocean and in the air.

Maybe Freeciv should too (controllable by server option).
