The main thing Windows' installation has going for it is that hardly
anybody actually installs Windows themselves -- it comes pre-installed.
Side-by-side there's not a lot of difference between Windows and a Linux
like Mandrake -- the main difference being that Linux supports dual-boot
and comes with a zillion application packages.

Linux desktops will take off when you can buy 'em pre-installed at
places like Walmart. I realize that the software is not everywhere
as good as one would wish, but I don't think the real problem is the
software -- it's Microsoft's ability to monopolize the distribution
and support channels. I.e., mindshare.
