I've been running DSL/PPPoE since Feburary of this year with no problems. The
best PPPoE client is from www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/. I've been told that the
2.4 kernel will support PPPoE natively, but until that happens the
roaringpenguin client has proved the be the most reliable with the lowest
overhead.

I think your choice will hinge on two questions: 1) Is DSL available in your
neighborhood? 2)Do you wish to run your own Web/Email/Ftp servers? If 1)& 2) =
True, then DSL is what you need. Otherwise, a cable modem would probably work
fine for you.
