I'm afraid that doesn't have anything to do with ironclads.  An
ironclad is a warship that is armoured with iron plates.  The material
of the hull is not the deciding factor.  Indeed, the two most
celebrated ironclads, the Virginia (better known as the Merrimack) and
the Monitor both had wooden hulls IIRC.
