You're right, verbs not depend on gender in most of them.
But maybe the gender problem can be avoided in a way similar
to the number problem, by choosing sentences in which the
variable part is always in the same form.  In the case
of gender in Russian this would mean e.g. that they do not
occur as the sentence subject.
