You need squid!

Get a 486/66 or so with 16-32mb RAM (or maybe that 5x86 you were trying to
sell) and install squid on it.

I had squid running at work (@ SouthWind) for a while, and it greatly
improved my browsing speeds... and I have ethernet connectivity there.

Even for a single-user environment, I suggest squid, then set Netscape (or
IE, or whatever) to not keep a cache.

In fact, squid running on the same machine that's running Netscape is
typically several times faster than Netscape's internal cache.

You'll be amazed at the speed improvement... :-)
