I tried this, but what happened is it would dial, then you'd hear all the
nifty sounds screaming from my modem, then after a few seconds, it was like
it had timed-out, hung up, then tried again...

yup, i'm hooking up to QuadNet here @ Tabor, and that will be where i get
i'net, share mp3z, etc...  i figured out how to keep Samba from hanging my
system at boot (i went into the net config tool, and told them not to load
at boot)

So, i can run Netscape and use it's e-mail proggy just like i am using
outlook xpress now w/o needing sendmail?

Oh, and BTW...yes, john, i am running RedHat...sorry...no Debian here.  :
^ )  do you know of someone in aclug who knows a lot, or specializes in RH?
i am running 5.1, if that helps...
