I also have the same problem exact problem with PPP on RH 5.0 & now 5.1.  I
tried the method listed on the aclug homepage and used the command line program
'ifup'.  Doing this gives me the same result listed above.  I did get a program
for X called XISP that setup ppp and ran the connection for me just fine if I
was in a graphical environ.  I am not sure just what I am doing wrong but I
would like to be able to run ppp from the command line.
