That's my tool of choice, too.

abcde is a nice (console) front-end to cdparanoia, too, if you're wanting to
rip MP3s or OGGs (and has the option to leave the original WAV files, too,
if you want to burn them to audio CD as well).

For extraction, I would highly suggest cdparanoia, does direct digital=20
extraction, and does some error correction.=20
