Backslashes are a native feature of all DOS and Windows based Gopher 
Servers. Essentially, these servers just make the directory structure of a hard 
drive visible as Gopher Selectors (kind of like you would do with directories 
on a Novell Server).  
 
This is why these Servers are so incredibly easy to get up and running.  Just 
create a directory to be the Gopher Root, then add / delete / change 
sub-directories and files to your hearts content (even the Gopher Links are 
easy to create, as they are nothing more than a few lines of text typed 
into specially named text files).
