But that is exactly the point: it is not good to understand the
translators job as a simple "translate every word by word". In
a GUI, it depends not only on the context a text is used but
also on the place: Is it a button, a menue, a window title. In
some cases this needs to be formated with new lines. In others
it doesnt. The programer cant decide this at a time where the
text is not even finished. The translator can.

Anyhow, Raimars patch will solve most of the current problems.
Still, the translator has more to do then a simple dictonary
lookup.
