The translation problem can be made easier to deal with.

I assume right now the text for buttons is just plain English.  The
German translator translates it into plain German, and the result is a
very long button text.  If the button text was marked, e.g.
"button_label?Popup City" (I think that's how it's done?) then the
translators would realize more easily that a button-worthy string was
desirable.
