I generally get my info from
<http://www.math.ubc.ca/~maxwell/ps.beta/summary.html> Adobe has some
resources (they developed PS). The best book is called "Thinking in
Postscript", from <http://www.rightbrain.com/pages/books.html>. You can't
buy a physical copy anymore, you can only download the PDF.

Because it's entirely stack based and postfix, it's really easy to parse,
so you can run PS programs on weak computers. My laserprinter (circa
1988) has a 68000 processor in it, for example.
