Just a nit, but note that
   linux_kernel_syle != gnu_style

As Daniel's post included, the Linux kernel coding style 
documentation starts with the comment:

'First off, I'd suggest printing out a copy of the GNU coding standards,
and NOT read it.  Burn them, it's a great symbolic gesture.'
