It looks to me like just a bunch of garbage was pasted to the shell...
perhaps an aciddental cut-and-paste?
I think you'd be jumping to conclusions to say that this is evidence that a
reinstallation is required.
As a matter of fact, there are VERY VERY VERY few instances when a
reinstallation is required with Linux--usually only when you're having
hardware problems. It's rare to have a Linux system become so currupted
that reinstallation is easier/faster than fixing the problem, unless it's
due to hardware failure.
