Erm... DNS and traceroute really are totally unrelated.  They're related
only in the same way that Netscape and DNS are related.  Traceroute uses DNS
to supply some information... but traceroute really is not a test of a DNS
server's capabilities or functionality.

host, nslookup, or dig would be better DNS diagnostic tools.
