I'm a relative newby and know nothing about FreeBSD, but:
1. In Linux, ifconfig shows the state of your ethernet connections. Does BSD
have this?
2. In Linux, dhcpcd will often re-establish a lost connection. Does BSD have
this?
3. Both of the cable modems I have used (both surfboards) have an inquiry
function that can be looked at by browsing to
192.168.100.1. From there you can look at the signal strength, noise ratio,
and lots of other goodies. Does this work on your
modem?
