That's true. I myself stopped playing when I found more and more people are following that same strategy, and only just came back recently. It seems more and more people are discovering Freeciv, and that certainly is good news. On the other hand, they are also learning that ICS is the only way to win in this game -- just join the server as a newbie, there is always someone who would be glad to tell you exactly what you have to do...

If I have understood PaulZ correctly he will set up one (at least?)
"alternative" server using my metropolis patch or something like that
once the move is done... That would be really nice...

That would be nice indeed. I wold have done some playtesting if I had a better conection. What really strikes me is that it is very rare to see any regular contributor to the freeciv-dev list in the server. I guess many are too busy to play. It would be nice if the coders could meet to play once in a while. That would certainly help to make some of the discussions into prespective.
