That wouldn't make any sense, since the return value of amortize is a want
value, and want is frequently zero.

Tested. The result was almost unnoticable.

FLOAT:
real    0m1.230s
user    0m1.210s
sys     0m0.000s

DOUBLE:
real    0m1.200s
user    0m1.190s
sys     0m0.010s
