Thats not the problem.

This may be true for the show command, but not for "list" e.g.
Anyway, output of show is long and parsing is slow.
Options may be added, names may change.
Bad design.

And why not control a remote server with this? I recently had
a game with server and client on different machines, because
my computer was too slow for both 8-) BTW ai code has become
slower.

No, because the texts are not designed for use in dialogs and may
be much too long.
