You could, but those words aren't as cool.  Gold should give some pretty
entertaining translations.

True, but this feeling would be a little too authentic for most :-)

Since freeciv players will quickly become familiar with the standard
layout strings (such as "gold"), translating these into obscure
languages will give a good feeling of authenticity without being
confusing.  Plus, there's no translation into the language of the
Dunedain nation yet.
