Here, here. The map just feels better to me in some vague and indescribable way 
when
it's isometric.

Having said that, if I had to decide between a better AI and an isometric map, 
I'd
choose the AI (diplomacy from computer players, p'leeeeese). If I wasn't such a 
Java
convert, I'd even try to contribute.

(don't have two cents, but you can have tuppence :) )
