Note that with rulesets, a version with rulesets is not interoperable
with a version without rulesets, except to the extent that it can
interoperate enough to tell (via capabilities) that its non-interoperable...

Unfortunately this doesn't help me much because I don't tend to play
straight through: instead I save at some point and then restart later,
which messes up the autosave sequences.
(But even so it should certainly go into the utils pack.)
