I use debian and know linux very well, I have been meaning to give gentoo a 
shot, I heard great things about gentoo and when I upgrade to an Opteron I 
plan on using gentoo.. I think a discussion regarding gentoo would be very 
valueable. Gentoo at a first glance seems extremely complicated and hard to 
understand. While there is some truth in that, however it generates a lot of 
misconceptions and obscures the advantages of using gentoo..
