You are quite right. I didn't say it, but I thought the same thing. ;-)

When you sign up for door prizes at the sale, you also get signed up for
their mailing list. Maybe that isn't made clear enough, but that's how it
works.  I don't consider it spam if you give them your email address.
Occasionally, an email address will get entered wrongly, that's even happend
here at ACLUG. For those who wrongly get the messages, I guess maybe it is
spam.
