the RH "apt-like" tool is probably RH's version of the Mandrake update
tool (or vice versa)... worked alright for me... only ran mandrake for
about 2 days (i needed a quick temp inst of linux to get my cbb files!),
so any further than that, i couldn't tell...

personally, the way i see it is RH, Corel (*shudder*), and Mandrake are
more for end-users or client workstations, where as slack, debian, Caldera
and also FreeBSD would be more fit in a server situation... i honestly
don't know where SuSE fits in there, as I've never gotten to try it...

we have a RedHat 5.2 (w/ LOTS of tarball upgrades), Mandrake 6.0, and BSDi
servers here at work... personally, i detest RH for server situations,
because all the config files have been scattered about... pretty much the
same w/ Mandrake... i have a much easier time going from my slack box at
home to BSDi than i do the others... i assume it would be similar w/
going from debian -> BSDi -> slack -> anything but RH/MDk ...  it's just
nice to find the files where you would expect them! : ^ )

the other annoying thing about having RH/MDK for servers is that when i
telnet into them, i have to make sure i either have an x server running or
that i set my display to "" or all the gui tools (which often have the
same name as their console-bast config tools) freak out and die...

RH is a breeze to setup, but from my experience you have to do more
"tweaking" w/ it to keep it running smoothly, where Deb/Slak seems to
require less...
