I don't know if this helps, I heard about it through a Slashdot
archive search and have only skimmed through it, but ZDNet has this
article, <

It doesn't mention Debian but has some good points about Unix versus
Windows 2000 and how Linux fits into the mix.  I like Debian and would
suggest it, but don't know of solid reasons to offer for your debate.
The developers put a lot of work into it and "stable" seems to really
mean stable.  Also, I hear comments all the time on Slashdot that
Debian is the perfect server distribution.
