well, i ran fsck on the drive, and still come up w/ those errors... the
badblocks prog comes up w/ a couple bad blocks... i'm guessing you're
probably right... damn... well, i'll look into Fujitsu and Seagate...
found some decently priced ones by them on pricewatch already...

yeah, the Quantum Fireball ST 3.5 (2.1gig) came w/ my computer, and i
picked up the other two along the way... only now have had trouble w/ my
Maxtor, and the other Quantum is yet to do anything bad... atleast my
home directory is on the good Quantum, and windoze is on the other...
getting ready to burn a backup of anything on my bad hdd before i do
anything else...

is it possible when i get my new drive (whenever that may be) to copy
everything on this drive to that, or would i be better off just starting
from scratch? i've worked 2 years on getting this system just the way i
like it, and now the hdd crashes...

Marge: Homer, you're his father. You've got to reason with him.

Homer: Oh, that never works. He's a goner!
