They are only a few usb cams supported under Linux. I had 
quite a challenge a year ago getting my Philips cam setup. 
Special kernel patching, configuring, etc. Philips finally 
Open Sourced some of it and it has made its way into the 
2.4.x. http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/

Here is a good Linux/usb page you may find some help there. 
Try and find out the actuall chipset the cam uses, it may be 
campatable to another supported cam.
