What happens if you ping the IP address and not the hostname?


If I ping 192.168.168.1 (cad1) from mail, the same thing happens. The ping command shows a reply, but nothing is going out on the network. Somehow it is being routed internally. I ran ifconfig on cad1 and it shows an IP address of 192.168.168.1; ifconfig on mail shows an IP address of 192.168.168.2.
