Hi. I'm very fond of civ (1 and 2) and would like to try freeciv.

I have a PII 233 workstation at home, with NO NET (under Linux) and no
sound. I have a RedHat 5.2 version with 2.0.36 kernel, and fvwm95 (haven't
compiled KDE yet).

I compiled everything allright, there is no problem starting the server. It
just says that the Meta server can't be reached (or something like that,
probably because of the absence of internet), and then run ok.

But when I start a client, the program opens, the box 'connect' opens, and
I am unable to connect. It says that there is no network found. The default
connection is root, localhost, 5555.

So I can't play.

I'm bothered.

Annoyed.

Where did I go wrong ?
