Or to put it differently, we morally approve of you using screenshots from our web page in your book. (There was no screenshot attached to your email, but nevermind.) A reference to www.freeciv.org as citation would be good.

Whether there could be legal implications from using a screenshot from a GPLed game in a book is something you will have to take up with your publisher. We cannot give you legal advice, special permission, or grant exemption from this license.
