here is what I hope is the ultimate version of the new connect dialog.
That's a lot of hope of course: there are probably still bugs lurking.
There _are_ a couple of niggling issues, but they should not stop a commit.
Because the thing is huge. I've attached the file newconn2.diff as a
comment under this ticket on RT.
Changes: lots. many improvements,
o logging: the spawned server now uses the client's --log for server
output. If you don't use this flag, you don't get any server output
o scripting: the client now has a --read option just like the server.
if you spawn a server, if will use this script just like usual.
o fixed the GTK-Critical error.
o fixed the i18n problems, thanks to Jason.
o added robust initial server settings. thanks to Daniel. it is very slick.
issues:
o win32 is broken bigtime. That's ok though since this should replace the
existant connect dialog that it has. That'll mean changes will need to
be made to connectdlg_common.c, but that can happen after commit.
o all other clients except for gtk2 will have their initial options popups
broken, but I shall leave that to the client maintainers.
Please try this out. This is a major goal for the next release and many
people have asked for this feature. This feature is directed for novice
players so feedback would be very appreciated regarding user-friendliness,
etc.
