It only describes a limited view of reality, however well it does this
if one limits the scope far enough to exclude other effects :-).

I'm not arguing against the formula, just pointing out that the whole 
justification relies on a set of assumptions about what is important
and how to simulate it. Thus the justification can be completely bogus
in ignoring things that may be important in real scenarios.
