I suspect this too. After a much closer second look, you are absolutely right.
The black sub looks distively different though. Yet it is just the silver with
a little bit of color editing. Why does a black unit look so different?

I thought the silk looked familiar. That silkworm is just the Civ 2 worm minus
the leafy background.
