I also found this in the meantime.

I tried to understand this whole mechanism and failed: the line
"AC_CHECK_LIB(nls,main)" in configure.in generated about 100 lines in
configure. I don't know where these lines come from. These lines are
very hard to read.

This is fine for me. I'm anxious to know how does it have to be done.
