I still disagree - I played with versiond of Freeciv that supported it,
and it was not a problem.

One idea is to mark every copy but the one closest to the focus, or the
one nearest to the top right corner of the view, as 'non-updated copy'
by shading it.  Multiple screen updating seemed a bad idea.
