The output of the revised form ( man -k '.*' | sort -u ) produces a list 
of 29363 entries on my system.

rather a long list to scan for a single useful utility.

However, it is a start for those who have no idea of the available 
commands and functions.
For those who already have some clues of what is available it can add to 
the usually incomplete lists available in books.
