There are many people (probably more than who share your viewpiont) who
think that a more progressive world would have highways owned by the
private sector as well!
In either case, simply stating the viewpoint does not make it true. There
are arguments either way. And in fact, those who share your viewpoint
could use public highways as an argument in favor of moving bandwidth to
the public sector saying something along the lines of "it provides for
more equal acces."
The Internet can also be used to make an argument for the privitization of
roadways saying "Greater access is provided where there is greater demand,
and survival of the fittest rules."
